IS THE ONE PIECE ANIME ON HIATUS?
Maintaining the continuous production of episodes for 25 years, with only a few brief pauses, is an impressive feat full of challenges, one of the main ones being keeping up with the increasingly demanding quality and production standards of the industry.
Over the years, Toei Animation has managed to make incremental changes to the One Piece anime, adapting to evolutions in broadcasting and animation without letting the machine stop. However, on October 13, 2024, after the release of episode 1122, One Piece went on a prolonged 6-month hiatus.
This hiatus aims to allow the animators to rest and recharge their energy, in order to then improve the quality of the animated adaptation of the One Piece manga in all aspects, from the animation to the narrative pace.
WHAT WILL HAPPEN TO THE ANIME DURING THIS HIATUS?
To keep One Piece anime fans entertained during this long hiatus, a remastered version of the Fish-Man arc will be aired until the return of the Egghead arc.
Although this arc was originally composed of 58 episodes and took about a year to air completely in its original broadcast, this new version has been condensed into only 21 episodes and will be aired in about 6 months.
And Ryuta Koike, producer of One Piece explained that this remastering shouldn’t be treated as a simple compilation, as they’ve actually rebuilt the arc from scratch and edited the new 21 episodes.
This new version of the arc is more visually aligned with the current quality of the One Piece anime, containing thicker outlines, different lighting, Dolby Atmos quality audio, and adjustments to the overall character visuals, as well as featuring newly updated episode previews, along with new opening and ending sequences.
And it was also strongly emphasized that this remastering of the Fishman Island arc has absolutely nothing to do with the ‘The One Piece’ project, which is a complete remake of the “One Piece” anime that will be carried out by WIT Studio.
LATEST EPISODE 1123 RELEASE DATE!
The broadcast of the Egghead arc, interrupted in mid-October 2024, is planned to be resumed in April 2024 in a new broadcast time slot in Japan that will be revealed at Jump Festa 2025 on December 22, 2024.
Currently, the One Piece anime is aired at 9:30 AM in Japan, an improper time for the display of heavy and violent scenes, so this change in schedule may aim to allow for a reduction in the censorship applied to the episodes.
ONE PIECE EPISODE 1123 PLOT!
Since One Piece episode 1122 covered chapter 1088 of the manga, it is expected that episode 1123 will adapt chapter 1089, and bring the series’ plot back to Egghead Island after a long time.
While the plot has been focused on other locations, the situation on Egghead has quickly escalated, with the Marines gathering 100 ships, led by Admiral Kizaru and nine Vice Admirals, totaling 30,000 marines. However, Egghead is not necessarily defenseless, as Vegapunk’s mechanical sea beasts are preventing the marines from making progress, although they may be able to do little against the warships.
But before that, the episode should show the reaction of the inhabitants of Dawn Island to the news in the newspaper about Garp’s disappearance and Luffy’s presence on Egghead, and a global earthquake causing tsunamis that submerge beaches and smaller islands, occurring only six days after the disappearance of Lulusia.
